Assistant Professor of Mathematics Courtney Gibbons was an invited speaker at the Second International Workshop and Conference on Commutative Algebra. The conference took place at Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, Nepal. 

In the workshop, Gibbons gave a preparatory lecture on “Graded Rings, Graded Modules, and Invariants.” She also presented a research talk on “Short Gorenstein Rings: Numerics and Consequences” at the conference.

While in Nepal, many of the female conference participants met with some of the organizers of Women of Nepal in Mathematics Sciences (WoNiMS) to discuss possible ways to increase the representation of Nepali women in math.
