Sarah Gloo (Orchard Park, NY) and Anthony Loeffler (Littleton, CO) have been named the 2001 Riffle Award recipients. The award is given out annually to the most outstanding senior athletes at Hamilton College. Gloo and Loeffler were honored at the 16th annual Riffle Dinner on Thursday evening.

Gloo, a member of the Hamilton College women's lacrosse team, is a four-year starter at attack and led the Continentals to their second straight UCAA title and their second straight trip to the NCAA Division III tournament. She holds the career record in points (216) and goals (180). Last year she set the school record for goals scored in a season with 67 and points in a season with 72. In her career Gloo has been named to NESCAC and UCAA All-Academic squads. Last year she was the UCAA and New York State Player of the Year. She is a two time All-State selections, a first-team regional All-American and IWLCA 2nd Team National All-American honors. She leads the team in scoring this year with 65 points on 55 goals and 10 assists.

Loeffler, a member of the Hamilton College men's swimming and diving teams, has been one of the top performers in Division III for the past four years. This past season he led the Continentals to their second straight UCAA title. He has won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle championships each of the last two seasons. Loeffler is an eight-time All-American and a
seven-time honorable mention All-American selection. This past March he led Hamilton to a 10th place finish at the 2001 NCAA championships with a 3rd place finish in the 100-yard freestyle and a 4th place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. Loeffler was the 2001 NESCAC Champion in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle and he finishes his career as the NESCAC Championships' highest four-year point scorer. He won 100-yard freestyle at the 2000 State Championships. Loeffler holds seven Hamilton College records including the 50 and 100-yard freestyle records.
