Gold Gives Talk at International Conference
Barbara K. Gold, Edward North Professor of Classics, gave an invited talk, "Comedy in Ancient Greece and Rome: What Was Funny, Whose Humor Was It, and How Do We Explain Jokes Without Killing Them?" at an international conference on Women and Comedy: History, Theory, Practice at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.
The conference was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and brought together researchers and performers from the United States and England (mostly non-classicists) to discuss the theory and practice of humor. Some of the papers will be published in a volume.
