Assistant Professor of Anthropology Nathan Goodale with co-author Ian Kuijt (University of Notre Dame) recently published an article titled “Daily Practice and the Organization of Space at the Dawn of Agriculture: A Case Study from the Near East” in American Antiquity.

The article provides evidence of how humans shifted the way that they organized their communities during the transition to agriculture in the Near East 11,000 years ago. The authors use a variety of quantitative techniques and Geographic Information System analysis to examine how stone tools are distributed at the site of ‘Iraq ed-Dubb, Jordan. This publication stems from Goodale’s work with Kuijt in the Near East since 2001. The journal American Antiquity is one of the most prestigious journals for publishing archaeological studies.
