Hamilton's Joe Baudo opened the scoring with a power play goal at 15:31 of the first, but St. Anselm answered with a goal by Mike Bianculli on a two on one break at 14:39. Joe Baudo scored off a nice feed from his brother Chris, giving Hamilton a 2-1 lead at 4:48 of the second. The Continentals went up 3-1 with another power play tally when Scott Meyer tipped in a Brian Coakley shot from the point at 9:13 of the second. Brian Guastella and Zac Sweetland (on the power-play) added goals to make it 5-1 at the end of the second.
St. Anselm cut the margin to 5-2 with a power-play goal at 1:56 of the third, but Hamilton answered with a power play tally of its own, by Sweetland, just minutes later. Later in the period, Joe Baudo had a short-handed goal and David Webb iced the win with another power-play goal.
