Members of the men’s lacrosse team spent the week after Thanksgiving volunteering in the Hamilton Against Hunger program. All of Hamilton’s athletic teams take turns collecting leftover food from the McEwen dining hall to donate to the Utica Rescue Mission.

Teams volunteer for a week at a time and collect food after lunch and after dinner. The athletes package the food and put it in a freezer on the loading dock at McEwen, and volunteers from the Utica Rescue Mission come and pick it up two to three times a week.

The program was founded by student-athletes several years ago.

Associate Director of Athletics Kerri Fagan noted, “This was a program that was started entirely by students and they work with each other to make it happen.” This year’s site coordinators are men’s lacrosse player Mike Fiacco ‘13 and Andrew White ‘13 of the men’s hockey team.
