The segment, which includes commentary by Haley on Cleopatra, was taped on theHamilton campus in the spring. Other interviews were conducted in Egypt, Paris,Cambridge (England) and Cambridge (Mass.). It will air in the United Kingdom onTuesday, Dec. 16.
The BBC segment represents the third television program that has interviewedHaley in the past 18 months. More than a year ago, Morley Safer of CBS' 60Minutes came to Hamilton to interview Haley for a segment on Afrocentrism, andearlier this fall she was interviewed for an upcoming segment on The LearningChannel. "The Glory That Was Rome" has been tentatively scheduled to air inMarch.
Haley joined the Hamilton faculty in 1989. Her areas of research includeclassics and the classical tradition in North America, race and gender inclassical antiquity, and ancient Africa and its suppression in classicalscholarship.
