Only 42% of the applicants for the Class of 2001 were offered admission to the college, and for the first time in school history, there are more women than men in the class. Hamilton was an all-male college until joining with all-female Kirkland College in 1978.
In addition, the class includes 15 high school valedictorians, seven salutatorians and 10 students who are national merit finalists.
