The Hamilton College men's swimming team sent five swimmers to the NCAA Championship Meet this past weekend at the University of Minnesota and finished 13th out of more than 70 teams. Four Continentals earned All-American status for their efforts, including junior D.J. Postles (Williamsville, NY) who captured All-American honors in four events – two individual and as part of two relay teams.

Postles finished in sixth place in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:04.34, and in seventh place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:35.90. He also was an integral part of the two relay teams that copped All-American honors.

The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Adam Bushnoe (Liverpool, NY), Anthony Loeffler (Littleton, CO), Dan Bordoni (Fayetteville, NY), and Postles captured fifth place with a time of 6:51.45, setting a new school record in the process. The same team turned in a time of 3:05.36 in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing in seventh place. Members of both relay teams earned All-American status for their efforts.

The team of Loeffler, Bordoni, Postles, and Bushnoe set a new Hamilton record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:24.55, good for a 13th place finish in the meet.

Freshman David Cecere (Chelmsford, MA) was the only other Continental who qualified in an individual event for nationals. Cecere finished 12th in the 200-yard breaststroke, recording a time of 2:07.28 and earning him Honorable Mention status.

Head Coach Dave Thompson was very pleased with his swimmers' performance at the NCAA Championship Meet. "This is the highest team placement we've had at nationals," Thompson said of the Continentals' 13th place finish.

Thompson said everyone put in a tremendous effort, especially the relay teams. "This is the first time the men's squad has placed a relay team in the finals," Thompson stated. "Not only did we place our relay teams, but two of them earned All-American honors. Needless to say, I'm very proud of our effort."
