Several national Youth Polls conducted at Hamilton through the Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center continue to be cited in recent national news stories on related topics.

In the Feb. 13 issue of The New Republic in an article titled "Phantom Menace," the 2003 Immigration Poll was cited. The article noted "According to an extensive 2003 survey sponsored by Hamilton College, opponents of immigration are particularly concentrated among those who have no more than a high school diploma, make less than $50,000, and live in small towns or rural areas."

Statistics from the Levitt Center Youth Poll on abortion (Hot Button Issues Poll, 2006) were cited in an article in The Washington Times (1/21/08) titled "Generation Next Moves Beyond Abortion." The poll found that 2006 high school graduates were conservative on the issues surrounding abortion.

In 2007 the Climate Change and Environment Issues Youth Poll was cited in a PBS Online NewsHour piece about global warming. Hamilton graduate Tucker Hutchinson '07, a student who worked on the poll, was also interviewed. The poll of 900 high school students, conducted in late 2006, found that most American high school students do not know the causes and effects of global climate change. The poll was also mentioned in a Christian Science Monitor article (7/10/07) titled "Could this be the global-warming generation?"

The Hamilton College Muslim America Poll, conducted in 2002 by Hamilton Sociology Professor Dennis Gilbert and his students, was cited in a Newsweek article, "Islam in America: A Special Report," (7/30/07). The poll examined Muslim attitudes toward the U.S. war on terrorism and related international issues and documented anti-Muslim discrimination and harassment in the United States after September 11.
