  • Hamilton Marks MLK Jr. Day With Employee Day of Service

    January 19, 2009

A group of Hamilton employees are spending Martin Luther King Jr. Day doing volunteer work at non-profit agencies in Utica. This is the third year that the College has commemorated Dr. King's legacy with the employee volunteer effort. Staff and faculty are working at Hope House, The Underground Cafe, Johnson Park Center and the Utica Food Bank.

The employees, who are being given release time from work at Hamilton, will work on starting a bulk food salvage program for the Food Bank, with the help of Bon Appetit, the College's food service provider.

Other employee-volunteers will paint, cook, serve meals and participate in activities with clients of the organizations. The HAVOC 11th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day will take place on Saturday, Jan. 24, with more than 200 students volunteering at additional non-profit organizations in greater Utica.
