The Hamilton community is mourning Alexander Paganelli ’12, who died on Dec. 19 as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident near his home outside Boston.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 3 p.m., at the Dover Church, 17 Springdale Avenue, in Dover, Mass.
In an e-mail to Hamilton students and employees, President Joan Hinde Stewart wrote, “It is tragic when a student so beloved and of such promise dies so unexpectedly and our hearts ache for Alex and his family. In addition to touching our campus community, his death will be felt among our alumni, since Alex’s father (Paul Paganelli) is a member of the Class of 1977.”
A chemistry major with coursework in the pre-med program, Alex was a member of Hamilton’s varsity lacrosse team. He had just returned from a semester abroad on South Caicos Island with the School for Field Studies, focusing on marine biology.
In addition to his parents, Paul Paganelli and Kerry O’Brien of Dover, he is survived by his sisters Lea, Siobhan and Tess Paganelli. In lieu of flowers, Alex’s family requests that donations in his memory be made to a traumatic brain injury research organization of one’s own choosing.
The Hamilton community will remember and honor Alex in a memorial service soon after the start of spring semester. Details will be announced in January.
