Hamilton College has been selected for Campus Technology's 2005 Innovators, and is featured in the August issue of Campus Technology magazine. The award recognizes the support of faculty/student use of multimedia in support of Hamilton's strategic goals and in particular the support services provided by the Multimedia Presentation Center and the HILLgroup. Hamilton was one of only 13 schools recognized and the only liberal arts college.

The Hamilton nomination read: "Hamilton strives to be the national leader among liberal arts colleges in developing students' abilities to effectively communicate what they have learned. Public presentation by students is at the center of a Hamilton education. For the Net generation and the information-intensive world in which they will live, this requires facility with the use of all forms of media. The Multimedia Presentation Center (MPC) http://onthehill.hamilton.edu/college/its/mpc/ was created to provide state-of-the-art technology together with excellent support services to enable students to become authors of multimedia-enhanced presentations. In spring 2005 alone, one-fourth of the student body, working individually and in small groups, used the MPC to create more than 120 video projects, 90 large format posters, many PowerPoint presentations, and a variety of other materials that were part of their public presentations. Support services for faculty and students who wish to incorporate multimedia assignments into their courses are provided by the HILLgroup (Hamilton Information and Learning Liaisons) http://www.hamilton.edu/academics/hillgroup/index.html a partnership of librarians and instructional technologists that has been highly effective in providing integrated support for both technology and content. Hamilton College is a technology innovator because it has aligned its investments in technology with institutional strategic goals, effectively used collaborative support models and improved student learning.
