William Julius Wilson, the Lewis P. and Linda L. Geyser University Professor at Harvard University, and Director of the Joblessness and Urban Poverty Research Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, will lecture on Monday, Sept. 30, at 8 p.m. in the Hamilton Chapel. His talk, "Roots of Racial Tensions: Immigration and the Realities of Today's Urban Ethnic Neighborhoods" is one in the series sponsored by the Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center. 

Wilson is the author of numerous publications including "When Work Disappears: The World of the New Urban Poor" and "The Bridge over the Racial Divide: Rising Inequality and Coalition Politics."

The next talk in the Levitt series will be held on Monday, October 14, when Douglas Massey, outgoing president of the American Sociological Association will present "Mexican Immigration: Consequences of Failed U.S. Policies" at in the Hamilton Chapel. Massey will examine how the social and economic fabric of Mexico and the has been affected by U.S. immigration policies.
