HEAG members helped clean up Lake Ontario's Sterling Nature Center.

Not to be outdone by HAVOC and its Make a Difference Day, the Hamilton Environmental Action Group (HEAG) took a trip on Sept. 10 to the Sterling Nature Center on Lake Ontario to participate with other local activists in Sterling’s annual Beach Clean-up Day. Seven students—HEAG co-chairs Bill Pedersen '13 and Morgan Osborn '14, Eunice Choi '14, Jane Barnard '13, Alex Crivelli '14, Alice Henry '14, Yuning Liu '13—participated in the event.

HEAG members spent the day cleaning up trash on a stretch of the Ontario shoreline, with student volunteers from SUNY Oswego. They hope to be able to respond to members’ suggestions for more group field trips in the upcoming semester. HEAG plans, in the fall, to participate in several local environmental conferences, including Powershift New York (Oct. 21-23 in Albany) and Moving Planet (Sept. 24 in Utica).
