A hand-carved stone sign now marks the entrance to Hamilton College. The marker is a gift of the Senior Class of 1999 and was made by Oneida County mason Kenny Miller.

The Class of 1999 gift follows the tradition of senior class gifts contributing to the aesthetics of the campus. Past gifts include benches around campus (1986), sports bleachers (1987), a street clock (1998), and landscaping on Martin's Way (2000). Other classes have created endowed funds and scholarships. The Class of 2001 Senior Gift will create a scholarship in honor of their classmate, Michael Maslyn '01, who died of leukemia in his junior year.
