Hamilton students taught Spanish to Clinton elementary school students this semester.

Twenty Hamilton students taught Spanish to children in grades K-5 at Clinton Elementary School this semester.  The Hamilton group attended a two-day training workshop, then participated in the tutoring from Sept. 29 to Nov. 21. Each week, the students taught multiple groups of approximately 25 Clinton children during lunch and recess. This is the third year of the program, which will continue next semester. Teaching Fellow in Hispanic Studies María Gabriela Portal, Elisa MacColl ’16, and Emily Hess ’16 coordinated the project.

The fall 2014 volunteers were Jonah Boucher ’17, Ian Brown ’17, Ysabel Coss ’18, David Curtis ’16, Rebecca DeTurk ’17, Daniel Erichson ’16, Amanda Hernandez ’17, Lindsay Heyer ’17, Alex Kaplan ’16, Jeremy Lowe ’15, Liz Lvov ’17, Elisa MacColl  Araseli Mendez, Heidi Mendez ’17, Emily Morris ’17, Irina Rojas ’18, Ashleigh Stephan ’15, Leah Weaver ’18, Arthur Williams ’16, and Casey Wright ’15.
