INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED INDIAN SINGER TO PERFORM AT HAMILTON COLLEGE

India's Jagjit Singh, who's 1996-1997 concert tour has included performances for capacity crowds in Atlanta, Boston and Chicago, will perform at Hamilton College on Tuesday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m. The concert will take place in the college Chapel, admission will be charged.

Regarded as "the king of ghazals," Singh released his first album, The Unforgettable Ghazal, in 1976. A ghazal is a form of poetry. The album set new sales records and has been followed by over 30 ghazals and devotional releases, all of which have become classics. His work has created a renewed interest in the art of ghazal poetry and performance and has been commissioned for films and television releases. Singh has has won numerous awards from musical associations and state governments.

The concert is being sponsored in part by Hamilton College Multicultural Affairs, the Arts Council of New York and Marine Midland Bank. Ticket prices vary, special prices are available for groups. For information call 315 859-4021 or 315 735-9257.
