Joe Jensen '15 (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro HS North) of the Hamilton College men's indoor track & field team will be competing in two events at the NCAA Championships on Friday, March 13. Jensen races in the 200- and 400-meter dash in Friday's preliminaries at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Meet program

The defending NCAA runner-up in the 400 meters, Jensen is seeded fifth in the 200 with a time of 22.05 seconds and 12th in the 400 in 49.13 seconds. He is part of seven school individual and relay records.

Competition begins for Jensen on Friday at 3:05 p.m. with the 400-meter preliminaries. The qualifying heats in the 200 begin at 5:05 p.m.

Both events have 15 entrants with nine runners advancing from Friday's preliminaries to Saturday's finals, which are at 2:45 p.m. for the 400 and 3:55 p.m. for the 200. The top eight finishers earn all-America honors.

Jensen is unbeaten in the 200 this winter and won all but one of his starts in the 400 (he was second to the defending national champion in the other).

A three-year member of the indoor track & field team, he recently won his fifth and sixth New York State Collegiate Track Conference titles after finishing first in both the 200 and 400 for the third straight year. At last weekend's Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships, he was the only athlete to win two track events.

Jensen played three years of football for the Continentals and will begin his fourth season with the Hamilton baseball team following this weekend's nationals. The Continentals open their season on Monday, March 16, with the first of 12 games on their spring trip to Florida. He was recently named Division III's top pro prospect by Baseball America magazine.
