Anne E. Lacsamana, assistant professor of women’s studies, was invited to Rollins College as a Thomas P. Johnson Distinguished Visiting Scholar in January to deliver a public lecture on her current research on the Philippine women’s movement.

Lacsamana’s talk “State of Emergency: Globalization, Feminism, and the Philippine Women’s Movement” situated the history of Filipino women’s organizing and feminist activism within the context of the current human rights crisis in the Philippines. In addition to her talk, Lacsamana was invited to guest lecture a course on women and globalization and participate on a panel titled “Women’s Studies and Feminist Activism at Rollins and Beyond."
