In celebration of Leap Day, the college is asking all alumni, friends, parents, staff and students to “take the leap” for Hamilton and support teaching and learning on College Hill. Trustee Aron Ain ’79, P’09,’11 has generously pledged a $100 match to every gift – regardless of size - contributed today as part of the #LeapForHamilton effort. The College hopes to generate 1,812 gifts, the number corresponding with the date of its founding. In its Quick Takes section, InsideHigherEd noted the challenge and presented the college's Leap Day video.

In preparation for the one-day campaign, quite a few members of the Hamilton community have been captured on video “taking the leap” for Hamilton, or at the least, if not jumping, expressing their support for the effort. From student swimmers and skaters to Marge in Commons and Professor Doc Woods on guitar to Assistant Professor Courtney Gibbons at the chalk board, many have encouraged today’s potential donors to “take the leap.” A flow of social media messages and emails, one including an early morning “wake-up” video by President Joan Stewart, are also part of the day’s celebration.

Those who make a gift are encouraged to use their personnel networks to call, email, text, or use their social platforms to alert and prompt their friends to take the leap and give.? Legions of class representatives and other volunteers have organized to ensure that the day's goal is met. The 1,812 gifts would set a one-day fundraising record for the College.
