Karen Pogonowski '02 will present the results of her research conducted as a summer Levitt Fellow, in the KJ auditorium at 4:15 p.m on Thursday, Nov. 29.

Pogonowski was selected as a Levitt Fellow and spent last summer working with Judy Owens-Manley, associate director of the Levitt Center.  Her summer research included using a questionnaire developed by the Children's Defense Fund to follow the effects of welfare reform. Pogonowski conducted surveys at local Food Banks and analyzed the results of those, as well as surveys of Head Start families which were collected previously.  She will be presenting an overview of the demographics of these families, most of whom represented the working poor, and a picture of the conditions and situations facing low-income and poor members of the community.
