Hamilton College finished in 13th place out of 17 teams at the 2012 Williams College Purple Valley Classic held at Mount Greylock High School in Williamstown, Mass., on Sept. 22.

Results

Nathan Arndt '14 was the first Hamilton runner across the finish line in 66th place with a time of 28 minutes, 4 seconds on the 8-kilometer course. Evan Abelson '16 finished just behind Arndt in 74th place with a time of 28:12.

Hamilton’s next three runners finished within 18 seconds of each other. William Robertson '14 came in 98th place with a time of 28:37, and Jack Moses '16 crossed the line in 28:46. Daniel Baer '15 rounded out the point scorers for the Continentals, finishing the course in 28:55.

The field included 208 runners and five nationally ranked Division III teams. They were Middlebury College (9), Williams (11), New York University (19), Rensselaer (30) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (35). Division I Fordham also competed.

Williams won the team title with 39 points, and Ben Wallis of Tufts University won the individual title with a time of 26:13. Hamilton scored 366 points.

The Continentals hit the trails again in two weeks on Saturday, Oct. 6, when Hamilton hosts its own invitational.
