The Hamilton College track and field teams participate in the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Indoor Championships at New York City's New Balance Armory Track & Field Center on Friday and Saturday, March 1 and 2.
Hamilton is sending 11 student-athletes to the ECAC championships. Jimmy Alexis '13 kicks off the weekend in the pole vault. In his last meet, Alexis set the school record with a height of 4.58 meters (15 feet, 0.25 inches) at the New York State College Track Conference (NYSCTC) indoor championships on Feb. 22.
Joe Jensen '15 is one of the favorites in the 400-meter dash. Jensen, who was selected the male rookie of the meet at the NYSCTC championships last weekend, owns the third-fastest time in the 400 at 49.69 seconds. Jensen will also compete in the 200-meter dash, and his time of 22.50 seconds is sixth best.
Sam Reider '14 will compete in the 500-meter dash after he established a school record at the NYSCTC meet with a time of 1:06.26, which is the sixth fastest in the field. Hashem Zikry '13 races in the 3,000-meter run and Jake London '14 participates in the high jump.
Agne Jakubauskaite '13 hits the mat first for the women’s team in the high jump. Jakubauskaite tied the program record with a height of 1.58 meters (5 feet, 2.25 inches) at the NYSCTC championships.
Krystina Choinski '15 will take part in the 1,000-meter run after she turned in a season-best time of 3:06.46 at the NYSCTC meet. Choinski teams up with Jessye McGarry '16, Emily Banzer '15 and Catherine Oglevee '15 to run the 4x800-meter relay. Rachel Cackett '13 rounds out the field for the women in the 3,000-meter run.
