Nationally ranked No. 2 Williams College scored the first six points and never trailed in a 79-56 win against Hamilton College in a non-league game at Williams' Chandler Gym on Dec. 7.

Williams (8-0 overall) held an 11-5 lead about five minutes into the first half when the Ephs took control with a 15-3 run. Williams' advantage was 18 points at 26-8 midway through the half, and Hamilton didn't get any closer than nine points the rest of the way. Newton made a three at the halftime buzzer to pull Hamilton within 40-26.

Troy Whittington posted a double-double with 21 points and 21 rebounds for Williams. James Wang added 16 points and James Klemm had 10. Nate Robertson handed out five assists.

The Continentals (4-2) had their win streak end at three games. Ephraim McDowell '12 paced the team with 15 points as he was 3-for-3 on 3-point shots. McDowell was the only Hamilton player in double figures. Pat Sullivan '12 was next with nine points. Ryan Wright '14 grabbed five rebounds and made three steals. Greg Newton '14 passed out four assists.

The Continentals shot 38 percent from the field, and the Ephs enjoyed a 40-23 advantage in rebounds. The Continentals were playing on the road for the first time after opening the season with five games at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. The Ephs reached the NCAA Division III tournament championship game in 2010.

Hamilton travels to Elmira College for another non-league game on Saturday, Dec. 11.
