Hamilton College finished second in the varsity eights against Rochester Institute of Technology on the Erie Canal in Rome, N.Y., on April 9.

Hamilton finished the 2,000-meter course in 6:31.18. Race conditions were sunny with temperatures in the high 40s to low 50s, and calm winds that built to a 5 mile-per-hour tailwind during the later races. RIT's “A” entry finished first with a time of 6:26.88, and its “B” entry was close behind in 6:30.04.

In the varsity fours, Hamilton finished behind two RIT boats in 7:30.97. The RIT “A” entry took first with a time of 7.02.0, and their “B” entry crossed the finish line in 7:13.57.

Jamie Leiva-Cabrera ’14 was coxswain for the varsity eight. The rest of the boat included Jeff Cardoni ’11 at stroke, Max Geiduschek ’14 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Chris Visentin ‘12, Aaron Whiteman ‘13, Adam Minchew ‘12, Matt Poterba ‘12, Dylan Jackson ’13 and Gibson Hoyt '12.

Jessica Griffith ’13 was coxswain for the varsity four. The rowers included Grant Meglis ’14 at stroke, Simon Judd ’13 in the bow seat, Joe Ely ‘12 in 3-seat, and Rafael De La Rosa ‘12 in 2-seat.

Hamilton hosts St. Lawrence University on the Erie Canal on Saturday, April 16.
