Hamilton College defeated St. Lawrence University in the varsity eight and captured the Houlihan Cup on the St. Lawrence River in Waddington, N.Y., on April 21.

All races were 2,000 meters in length. Temperatures were in the 40s with a steady rain and a 5-to-10 mph cross-headwind.

Hamilton's varsity eight took first place in 5 minutes, 57.8 seconds, and St. Lawrence crossed the line in 6:02.0. Monica Gutierrez '15 was coxswain, Joe Ely '12 was the stroke and Andre Matias '12 was in the bow seat.
Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows:  Chris Visentin '12, Rafael De La Rosa '12, Adam Minchew '12, Aaron Whiteman '13, Dylan Jackson '13 and Jack Wildman '15.

Hamilton captured first place in the novice eight with a time of 6:17.7, and the Saints came in at 6:19.9. Gutierrez was coxswain, Patrick English '15 was the stroke and Nicholas Bullen '15 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows:  Gardner Reed '14, Jacob Wagner '15, Alex Cates '15, Phillip Ewing '15, Kyle Leahy '14 and Andrew Szatkowski '15.

Gutierrez was coxswain for Hamilton's varsity four, which finished eight seconds ahead of St. Lawrence.
The rest of the boat included Matt Poterba '12 at stroke, Max Geiduschek '14 in the bow seat, Simon Judd '13 in the 3-seat and Grant Meglis '14 in the 2-seat.

Hamilton competes in the two-day New York State Championship in Whitney Point, N.Y., which begins on Saturday, May 5.
