Hamilton College won the Tampa Mayor's Cup for the second straight year at the Tampa Bypass Canal in Florida on March 17.

Hamilton finished first out of nine competing programs with 44 points. Colgate University was runner-up with 32 points and Stetson University was third with 26. Hamilton won the novice 4 and the collegiate double.

Results

All races were 1,500 meters in length. Weather conditions were sunny with temperatures topping out in the mid-80s.

Hamilton took second place in the varsity 8 with a time of 4 minutes, 49.73 seconds. Colgate finished first in 4:46.62. Jaime Leiva-Cabrera '14 was the coxswain, Matt Poterba '12 was the stroke and Dylan Jackson '13 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows: Chris Visentin '12, Rafael De La Rosa '12, Adam Minchew '12, Aaron Whiteman '13, Simon Judd '13 and Grant Meglis '14.

Hamilton's winning time in the finals of the novice 4 was 5:34.60. Hamilton finished second in the opening heat with a time of 5:47.42. Monica Gutierrez '15 was the coxswain, Patrick English '15 was the stroke and Gardner Reed '14 was in the bow seat. Alex Cates '15 was 3-seat and Jake Wagner '15 was 2-seat.

Joe Ely '12 (2-seat) and Max Geiduschek '14 (1-seat) finished with a time of 5:41.30 in the double.

Hamilton was sixth in the novice 8 with a time of 5:32.27. Gutierrez was the coxswain, Jack Wildman '15 was the stroke and Nicholas Bullen '15 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows:  Reed, English, Cates, Philip Ewing '15, Kyle Leahy '15 and Andrew Szatkowski '15.

Hamilton ended up fifth in the varsity 4 with a time of 5:29.62. Leiva-Cabrera was the coxswain, Ely was the stroke and Geiduschek was in the bow seat. Minchew was 3-seat and Whiteman was 2-seat.

Hamilton's next event is Sunday, April 1, when the team travels to Boston to race Tufts University and Tulane University.
