Hamilton College took first place in the varsity eight in the Bridge-to-Bridge Head Race on the Erie Canal in Rome, N.Y., on Oct. 4.
Hamilton finished the 6.6-kilometer course with a time of 23:28.12. St. Lawrence’s “A” boat finished second in 24:32.62. St. Lawrence’s “B” boat took third with a time of 24:59.89.
In the fours and small boats race, Hamilton’s varsity four finished in second place with a time of 25:13.93. St. Lawrence’s “A” entry took first finishing just 3.4 seconds ahead in 25:10.53. Taking third place was St. Lawrence’s “B” boat in 26:43.08. Hamilton’s double took fourth place in 27:04.57.
Ricky Bottini '10 was coxswain for the varsity eight. The rest of the boat included Gibson Hoyt '12 at stroke, Tim Belden '10 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Chris Visentin '12, Charlie Palanza '10, Adam Minchew '12, Andre Matias '11, John Verni '12 and Matt Poterba '12.
Dan Rudel '10 was coxswain for the varsity four. The rowers included Jake Lucas '13 at stroke, Dylan Jackson '13 in the bow seat, Visentin in 3-seat, and Poterba in 2-seat.
Hamilton next rows at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass., on Oct. 17 and 18.
