Hamilton College came in second place in the race for the Houlihan Cup as part of a regatta against St. Lawrence University on the Erie Canal in Rome, N.Y., on April 18.

The teams faced a variable 5-to-15 mile-per-hour tailwind throughout the day. Hamilton's varsity eight finished second to St. Lawrence in a thrilling competition for the Houlihan Cup. Hamilton crossed the finish line in 6:09.79 on the 2,000-meter course. St. Lawrence's time of 6:09.33 was just .46 seconds ahead of Hamilton.

The second varsity eight also finished runner-up with a time of 6:25.6 to St. Lawrence's 6:34.99. In the novice four, Hamilton's time of 7:33.3 was second to St. Lawrence's 7:11.84.

Ricky Bottini '10 was coxswain for the varsity eight. The rest of the boat included Gibson Hoyt '12 at stroke, Tim Belden '10 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Ben Sholl '09, Jeff Cardoni '11, Willy Cowles '09, Jonathan Wilson '09, Chris Visentin '12 and Andre Matias '11.

Scott Bixby '11 was coxswain for the second varsity eight. The rest of the boat included Rafael De La Rosa '12 at stroke, RD Eisenhart '11 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Matt Seaman '12, Matt Poterba '12, Adam Minchew '12, Ian Thresher '12, Sam Hinks '12 and Andre Zakoworotny '11.

Jeff Rabinowitz '12 was coxswain for the novice four. The rest of the boat included De La Rosa at stroke, Seaman in the bow seat, Minchew in the 3-seat and Zac Haluza '11 in the 2-seat.
