Hamilton College finished first in the varsity eight against Tufts University and Tulane University on the Malden River in Boston, Mass., on April 1.

Weather conditions were sunny with temperatures in the 40s and negligible wind. All races were 2,000 meters in length.

Hamilton's varsity eight crossed the line in 6 minutes, 26 seconds against Tufts. The Jumbos finished five seconds behind in 6:31. Against Tulane, Hamilton's varsity eight covered the course in 6:21, and finished four seconds ahead of the Green Wave.

Jaime Leiva-Cabrera '14 was coxswain, Matt Poterba '12 was the stroke and Dylan Jackson '13 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows: Chris Visentin '12, Rafael De La Rosa '12, Adam Minchew '12, Aaron Whiteman '13, Simon Judd '13 and Grant Meglis '14.

Hamilton took second place to Tufts in the novice eight with a time of 6:40. The Jumbos crossed the line in 6:23. Against Tulane, the Continentals finished first in 6:49, which was 10 seconds ahead of the Green Wave.

Monica Gutierrez '15 was the coxswain, Patrick English '15 was the stroke and Nicholas Bullen '15 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows: Gardner Reed '14, Jacob Wagner '15, Alex Cates '15, Philip Ewing '15, Kyle Leahy '14 and Andrew Szatkowski '15.

Hamilton's varsity four took first place against Tufts. The Continentals crossed the line in 7:30, and finished 12 seconds ahead of the Jumbos. Leiva-Cabrera was coxswain, Joe Ely '12 was the stroke and Andre Matias '12 was in the bow seat. Max Geiduschek '14 was in the 3-seat and Jack Wildman '15 was in the 2-seat.

Hamilton hosts Union College for the Gilman Plate & Cup on Saturday, April 7, on the Erie Canal in Rome, N.Y.
