Hamilton College participates in the 2013 NESCAC Golf Championship at Shuttle Meadow Country Club in Kensington, Conn., on Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28.

NESCAC Championship Preview

The tournament winner receives the conference’s automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship in May. The other three schools in the NESCAC championship are host Trinity College, Williams College and two-time defending champion Middlebury College. Both rounds begin at 11 a.m.

Hamilton earned a spot in the 2013 NESCAC championship by finishing third in the qualifier in October 2012. The Continentals have won three conference titles -- most recently in 2003 -- and they captured the others in 1990 and 1998.

The Continentals are competing in this event for the fifth time since the NESCAC instituted a 10-team qualifier in the fall and a four-team championship in the spring for the 2007-08 academic year. Hamilton placed second in the 2008 NESCAC championship, third in 2009 and 2010 and fourth in 2012.

Hamilton is led by Greg Scott '14, Mac Pivirotto '15 and Matt Yung '16. Scott -- a three-time all-conference honoree -- owns a team-best 76.8 stroke average for 18 holes.

Pivirotto earned a spot on the 2012 all-conference first team after he shot a two-day total of 151 and finished in sixth place at the NESCAC qualifier. He is third on the team in stroke average at 79.9. Yung was the 2012 NESCAC Rookie of the Year and a member of the all-conference second team, and ranks second on the team with a 78.1 average.
