Joe Houk '13 and Anthony Ruberto '13 recorded one goal and one assist apiece to lead Hamilton College to a 6-2 win against SUNY Cortland in a non-conference at Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Nov. 23.

Hamilton (2-1-0 overall) scored the first two goals and never trailed. The Continentals led 3-2 after one period and 4-2 after two. Cortland (2-5-1) is winless in its last four games and has lost three straight. Hamilton leads the all-time series 23-4.

Six different players scored a goal for Hamilton. Joe Buicko '11 was credited with three assists and Anthony Scarpino '12 had two. Scott Hefferman '11 finished with 26 saves.

Jarrett Gold '11 paced the Red Dragons' offense with one goal and one assist. Mike Reilly '12 turned away 40 shots.

The Continentals grabbed a 1-0 lead 3 minutes, 16 seconds into the first period. Houk fired a shot from the blue line that Reilly stopped, but he gave up the rebound and Andrew Jelinek '13 was there to stuff the puck in the back of the net. Hamilton used the same formula to take a 2-0 advantage at 5:36. Brandon Broad '12 shot from the blue line, Reilly couldn't control the puck and Ruberto capitalized to score his first goal this season.

Cortland's Matty Davie '12 scored just eight seconds later off the faceoff to cut the Red Dragons' deficit in half. The Continentals restored their two-goal cushion 26 seconds later when Tom Chiappetta '11 deflected a shot by Buicko past Reilly.

Cortland scored its last goal on a power play at 9:59 of the first. Gold took a pass in the slot from Justin Porpora '11 and backhanded the puck past Hefferman to pull the Red Dragons within 3-2. Late in the first, Hamilton killed 29 seconds of a two-man advantage for Cortland.

The score remained 3-2 until 6:23 remained in the second period when a shot by Scarpino was tipped by Bryan Kelly '12. Reilly got a piece of the puck with his left arm, but it tumbled over his arm and into the goal.

The Continentals added two goals late in the third period. Buicko skated behind the Red Dragons' goal and threw the puck out in front. It ended up on Houk's stick, and he fired a wrist shot from the right circle past Reilly with 1:22 remaining.

Michael DiMare '14 scored unassisted with 4.1 seconds left after Hamilton pulled Hefferman for an extra attacker during a delayed penalty call on the Red Dragons. DiMare has scored one goal in each of his first three games for the Continentals.

Hamilton plays at Cortland on Tuesday, Nov. 30. The Red Dragons travel to Neumann College for another non-conference game on Friday, Nov. 26.
