Hamilton College’s Harry Biggs '10 and Vaclav Tomicek '10 recorded a goal and an assist apiece to lead the visiting Continentals to a 4-2 win over SUNY Cortland in non-conference action at Alumni Arena on Nov. 24.

Bryan Kelly '12 and Andrew Jelinek '13 also scored goals for Hamilton. BJ Lalonde '12 and Joe Houk '13 were credited with one assist apiece. Calvin Bartel '13 turned aside 32 shots and picked up his first victory.

The Continentals (2-1 overall) took a 2-0 lead after one period of play. Jelinek put in his own rebound over the Cortland goalie’s shoulder at 2 minutes, 54 seconds for his first career goal. Kelly made it 2-0 at 5:07 when he tucked the puck in an open net following a 3-on-2 break.

The Red Dragons (3-5) tied the score with two goals early in the second period. The first goal came on a wrist shot from the left circle at 2:23, and the second on a one-timer past Bartel after a save on a delayed penalty call at 3:32.

In the third period, Cortland took two penalties a little more than a minute apart and Hamilton capitalized. Biggs knocked in a rebound on the left side at 7:36 with one Cortland player still in the box for a 3-2 lead. Cortland pulled its goalie for an extra skater late in the third, but Tomicek sealed the win with 57 seconds left on an unassisted empty-net goal.

Hamilton held a 38-34 advantage in shots. The Continentals return to action on Monday, Nov. 30, when they host Utica College for a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
