Hamilton (14-6-4 overall, 11-4-4 NESCAC) is the No. 1 seed for the first time in the 12-year history of the conference championship. The Continentals last hosted a NESCAC postseason event in 2002, when they lost to Colby College in the first round of the championship. Hamilton has a 6-0-2 record in its last eight games.

Wesleyan (9-11-3, 8-10-1) is the No. 8 seed, but defeated the Continentals 3-2 at home back on Nov. 20, 2010. The Cardinals have never played Hamilton in the NESCAC championship. Wesleyan's record so far this month is 4-3.
