Hamilton College trailed just 7-5 at halftime, but the visiting Continentals managed just one goal in the final two quarters and lost a non-league contest, 13-6, against Swarthmore College at Clothier Field on April 16.
Luke Sadoff '12 led Hamilton (3-8 overall) on offense with one goal and one assist. Paul Citarella '12 added a goal and a team-high five ground balls as he won 9-of-18 faceoffs. Franke Holiber '10 notched his team-leading 13th goal. Tim Cohan '09 picked up four ground balls.
The Continentals grabbed a 2-0 lead early in the first quarter and held a 4-3 advantage after a man-up goal by Stephen Lefebvre '11 with 10:01 left in the second quarter. Hamilton lost the lead after Swarthmore tallied two straight goals, but Holiber knotted the score at 5-5 with 4:03 remaining in the half.
Swarthmore (6-5 overall) proceeded to go on a 7-0 run that spanned the second, third and fourth quarters, and effectively put the game out of reach for the Continentals. Peter Gerrity '09 made the score 12-6 with his fifth goal with 4:21 left in the fourth.
Hamilton held a 38-32 advantage in shots. Max Vaickus '12 made six saves in goal for the Continentals.
Hamilton hosts Skidmore College on Wednesday, April 22, at 6 p.m. for a Liberty League contest.
