Zach Hutchinson '15 scored with 20 seconds remaining in the second sudden-victory overtime period to lift Ithaca College to a 1-0 win over Hamilton College in a non-conference game at Ithaca's Carp Wood Field on Oct. 11.
Eric Boole '13 started in goal for Hamilton and finished the first half with one save. Fred Porges '14 replaced Boole at halftime and recorded six saves the rest of the way.
With the clock running down, Hutchinson slid to the ground at the right edge of the penalty area and lifted a shot over a charging Porges for the game-winner. It was the second goal in as many games for Hutchinson. Tim Goldman '15 was credited with the first assist of his career for the Bombers.
Ithaca goalkeeper Jack Van Adelsberg '14 earned his first collegiate victory and first career shutout. He had five saves, including a diving stop in the sixth minute on Hamilton's best scoring opportunity, a hard shot toward the left post from 12 yards out.
Ithaca (4-5-1 overall) held a 22-16 shot advantage, including 19-5 after halftime. The Bombers took seven corner kicks to three for the Continentals.
These teams played to a scoreless tie in their last meeting at Carp Wood Field in 2009. Ithaca leads the all-time series 12-9-4.
Hamilton (3-6-1) travels to Bowdoin College for a NESCAC game on Saturday, Oct. 15, at noon.
