Senior forward Michael Schantz (Sharon, MA/Sharon) was rewarded this week for his excellent play this season as he was named Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA) Player of the Year and First Team All-UCAA for the second consecutive year. Schantz finished the regular season averaging 26.3 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. Both statistics lead the UCAA.

Before scoring 27 points in the season finale on Saturday, Schantz had a streak of five straight games of 30 points or more. He is one of ten finalists for the second annual Jostens Trophy, given to the top Division III player in the nation.

Fellow teammate, senior center Jon Schmiegel (Wantagh, NY/Calhoun) also earned First Team All-UCAA honors. He ends the regular season as the fifth-leading scorer (17.8 ppg) and second-leading rebounder (12.2 rpg) in the UCAA.

On the women's side, senior forward Jen Moran (Leonia, NJ/Leonia) was named Second Team All-UCAA for the third time in her career. Moran led the team in rebounding, grabbing 6.2 boards per game. She also was second on the team with an 11.4 scoring average.

The men's coaching staff also was recognized for its outstanding efforts this season as they were named Co-Coaching Staff of the Year. The coaching staff is comprised of head coach Tom Murphy, and assistants Stan Evans, Karl Radday, and Matt Stowell (Hamilton '95). Hamilton boasted the best offense in the UCAA, averaging 82.7 points per game.

The Continentals finished the regular season as UCAA Champions with a 9-3 conference ledger (14-10 overall). The number five seed Continentals will take on the number four seed University of Rochester Yellowjackets in the East region of the Northeast section of the NCAA Tournament 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 4 at St. John Fisher College.
