Kosgei '10 earns men's track performer of the week honors

Hamilton College's Peter Kosgei '10 (Kapsabet, Kenya/Kapsabet Boys' HS) earned the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Track Performer of the Week award on April 27.
Kosgei finished in first place in the 800- and 1,500-meter run at the NESCAC track and field championships at Connecticut College in New London, Conn., on April 25. He finished eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in the College Men's Championship division at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia on April 23.
Kosgei's time of 1:50.44 in the 800 set meet and Silfen Track and Field Complex records, and automatically qualified him for the NCAA Division III championships in May in the event. His winning time of 3:53.74 in the 1,500 met a provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA meet.
Kosgei competed against athletes from NCAA Division I and II programs at the Penn Relays. His steeplechase time of 8:52.87 is the best in Division III so far this year by 16 seconds and is an automatic qualifier for the national meet. Kosgei is the 2007 and 2008 Division III champion in the event.
Kosgei and his teammates will compete in the New York State Collegiate Track Conference championships at St. Lawrence University on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2.
