New York City Program students with Bob Kinkel '79.

NYC Program students spent a recent morning with Hamilton alumnus Bob Kinkel ’79 at Spin Recording Studios, a 4,000 square foot, world-class audio recording  studio in Long Island City.  Kinkel is a professional keyboardist and music engineer best known for his role as a co-creator/co-producer/co-composer and touring keyboardist with Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

At Spin Studio, students observed a live recording session, then were given the opportunity to do a bit of recording themselves.  Kinkel conducted the students in the fine art of hand-clapping, recording the group and demonstrating how the resulting single track of clapping hands could be layered into a piece of music.  The hand claps will be included as part of a song on an album of music that Kinkel has been working on with an Appalachian musician.
