Jeff Sharlet, author and visiting research scholar at New York University's Center for Religion and Media, will lecture at Hamilton College on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 4:15 p.m. in the Kennedy Auditorium of the Science Center. His lecture, titled "Sex, Power, and the Faith of Obama: How the Religious Right is Re-Inventing Itself for a New Day," is free and open to the public.

Sharlet is the author of The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power, a New York Times bestseller, and co-author with Peter Manseau of Killing the Buddha: A Heretic's Bible, named by Publishers Weekly one of the 10 best religion titles of 2004. He is a contributing editor for Harper's and Rolling Stone, and has also written about religion and politics for Mother Jones, The Nation, New York, The New Republic, The Washington Post and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
