Hamilton College Performing Arts continues the fall series with the Senegal St. Joseph Gospel Choir on Friday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center.

Direct from Dakar, Senegal, the ensemble features singers and traditional Senegalese drummers lead by music director Ambroise N’Diong.

Founded in 1950, the choir has become a symbol of peace, hope, humanity, and brotherhood in its homeland, creating harmony between the music of the Catholic and Islamic cultures in Senegal. Each Sunday, the choir performs at a cathedral in the heart of Dakar’s working-class neighborhood.

The 2014 tour program features their unique interpretations of gospel spirituals, traditional African songs, and the magnificent masses composed by its founder, Julien Jouga.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens, and $5 for students. Tickets and information are available at the box office 859-4331 or online at www.hamiltonpa.org
