Photographs taken by H. Philip West Jr. '63 will be shown in "Rebuilding Tamil Nadu" at the Chapel Gallery of the Mathewson Street United Methodist Church in Providence, R.I. The show opened on Jan. 2 and runs until Jan. 31. He lives with his wife, Anne Grant, in Providence.
This show is an exhibition of photographs taken while West traveled in Chennai, India, with his wife. The photos in the exhibition explore the many dimensions of Indian culture as well as portraits from Tamil Nadu, a state on the southeast coast of India. As a photographer West has also been able to travel and take photos in places such as South Africa, Mozambique and Liberia during crucial times in their history.
