  • PIANIST MYKOLA SUK TO PERFORM AT HAMILTON

    Internationally acclaimed pianist Mykola Suk will be in concert on Friday, Nov. 22, at 8 p.m. in Wellin Hall of the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts at Hamilton College. Tickets for the performance are $15 for the general public and $5 for students.

    Suk is a former gold medal winner of the International Liszt-Bartok Competition in Budapest. He has appeared as both soloist and chamber musician on the major concert stages throughout the former USSR, Europe, the Middle East and the U.S.

    Formerly on the faculty of the Kiev and Moscow Conservatories, Suk has been awarded the title of "Outstanding Artist of the Ukraine," and has often been compared to Sviatoslav Richter. He is now artist-in-residence at the Ukrainian Institute of America in New York City.

    The concert at Hamilton will feature three sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti (C Major, Longo # S-2, Allegro, E Major, Longo #23, Andante commodo, and C Major, Longo #104, Allegro); Sonata in E-flat major Hob. XVI:49 by Franz Joseph Haydn; Out of Doors by

    Bela Bartok; and Sonata in B minor by Franz Liszt..

    The Mykola Suk performance is the fourth concert of the 1996-1997 Music at Hamilton Artist Series. The final performance of the series will feature the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Sunday, Feb. 9.
