Poet Philip Memmer will read from his work on Friday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m., in the Fillius Events Barn at Hamilton College, as a guest in The Kirkland Project for the Study of Gender, Society and Culture "Masculinities" series. The reading is free and open to the public.

Memmer lives in Deansboro, NY, where he edits the poetry journal Two Rivers Review.  He is director of the Downtown Writer's Center, the Syracuse chapter of the YMCA National Writer's Voice.  His poems have been published in two chapbooks, For Resident (FootHills Publishing, 2002) and The Apartment (Piccadilly Press, 2001), and have appeared widely in literary journals such as Poetry, Poetry Northwest, Southern Poetry Review and Connecticut Review.  The reading will focus on a new series of poems titled The Cubist's Wife.  Written from the perspectives of fictional women, the poems from The Cubist's Wife discuss and critique men and their relationships from an unusual angle.
