Ronald R. Pressman, a 1980 graduate of Hamilton College, has been named president and ceo of GE Asset Management, which manages $200 billion in assets. He succeeds John H. Myers, who is retiring after nearly 37 years with General Electric.

According to a GE press release, "Ron Pressman's GE career has spanned industrial businesses and multiple financial services businesses including leadership roles in capital markets, lending and investing, and insurance operations," said Keith S. Sherin, GE senior vice president and chief financial officer. "He is highly qualified to continue the prudent management of GE's pension assets and continue the business growth strategies for external clients. We also congratulate John Myers on his long, outstanding career and for his leadership in turning GE Asset Management into a recognized leader in the institutional money management business."

Pressman began his GE career in 1980 after graduating from Hamilton College. Key leadership roles in GE have included leading GE Capital Real Estate from 1997 to 2000. Prior to this he led GE Power Systems' Product Businesses and Technology Programs. He spent six years in Europe as ceo of GE Power Systems Europe and general manager of GE's central and eastern European operations. Prior to his European experience, Ron spent three years on Wall Street leading the financial team of Kidder Peabody and Co. after GE's acquisition in 1987.

Most recently, Ron was chairman, president and ceo of GE Insurance Solutions, one of the world's leading providers of commercial insurance, reinsurance and risk management services. Ron led the recent sale of major portions of this business to Swiss Re and Berkshire Hathaway. The sale of GE Insurance Solutions to Swiss Re is expected to close in the second quarter of 2006.

GE Asset Management is a diversified, multi-asset manager with approximately $200 billion of client assets under management. Its 500 employees are headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut with investment offices in Montreal, Toronto, Tokyo, London, Shanghai and Los Angeles.
