Eleven Hamilton College rowers were honored on the 2013 National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) Stewards’ All-Academic Team on June 18.

To be recognized, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a grade point average of at least 3.35. Transfer students must have completed one year of study at the institution.

Alex Cates '15, Dylan Jackson '13, Andrew Szatkowski '15 and Jacob Wagner '15 represented the men's team. Jackson, who spent most of his senior year in the bow seat for the varsity eight, was one of 19 rowers selected to the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference NIRC men's all-conference team.

Jess Pedersen '15 and Hideko Nara '15 led the women's honorees. Pedersen and Nara also received 2013 national scholar-athlete honors from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). The CRCA recognizes student-athletes that have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better through the fall semester, must be at least a sophomore in academic eligibility and must have rowed in the institution's NCAA eligible boat for a minimum of 75 percent of the spring races. Grace Bowers '15, Meredith Garner '15, Helen Higgins '13, Rachel Landman '15 and Hannah Zucker '15 joined Pedersen and Nara on the NIRC all-academic team.
