Sarah E. Schwartz '99 received a 2007-08 Fulbright grant at the University of South Carolina to conduct international research. The Hamilton graduate is among a USC record eight students who received such grants.

The Fulbright Scholarship program was established in 1946 to provide American students with opportunities to study, teach, and research internationally. The program also brings international students to the United States for the same purpose. Last year, the Institute of International Education, which sponsors the program, distributed more than $262 million to U.S. scholars in approximately 6,000 awards.

Schwartz, who double-majored in geology and art history at Hamilton, and earned a master's degree in geography from USC, will go to Swaziland to research HIV/AIDS prevention strategies in two local communities.
