Senior forward Michael Schantz (Sharon, MA/Sharon) was named Co-Player of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), while freshman guard Jenny Russell (Pawling, NY/Pawling) earned Rookie of the Week honors from the ECAC and the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

Schantz averaged 27 points and 9.6 rebounds per game this past week, including a 32-point outburst in a 90-71 win versus Union College, to help earn him his third ECAC Player of the Week honor this season. Schantz leads the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA) in scoring (26.8 points per game) and rebounding (14.3 rebounds per game), and ranks second in field goal percentage at 57.7% (60-104).

Russell averaged 18 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists in three games this past week. Russell scored a game-high 25 points against Rensselaer and poured in 19 points while grabbing nine rebounds against Union. She ranks second in scoring in the UCAA and third in the NESCAC with 17.6 points per game.

The men's basketball team is now 7-2 (4-2 UCAA), while the women's team shows a ledger of 1-8 (0-7 UCAA).

COUNTDOWN TO COACH TOM MURPHY'S 500TH CAREER VICTORY . . .

Tom Murphy, head coach of the Hamilton men's basketball team, needs only two more wins to reach the 500 career-win plateau. If the Continentals win their next game, Murphy could notch his 500th win against Union College on Saturday, January 23 in a 4 p.m. game in Schenectady, NY.
