Schantz added 14 rebounds and five assists, while fellow junior Jon Schmiegel pulled down a game-high 18 boards. Senior Kevin Thorpe scored 18 points for the Continentals, while junior Max Stroman added15 points.
Hamilton jumped out to a 40-34 halftime advantage, and extended their lead to 62-50 midway through the second half. The Cardinals, behind the three-point shooting of Sean O'Brien (22 points, 4-6 from three-point range), cut the Continental lead to four on two different occasions. However, Hamilton hit on 16 of 25 free throws in the second half to keep Wesleyan at bay.
Schantz scored 19 points in the first half, and 18 in the second. He is now scoring at a 24.9 clip per game while averging over 12 rebounds. Schmiegel was held to eight points, stopping his consecutive "double-double" string at four games, but has now averaged 15.8 rebounds in his last five games.
Hamilton improves to 12-7, and have won five of their last six. The Continentals entertain 17-2 Conn. College Saturday at 3 p.m.
